Cosplay the Easy Way
Mimi Tachikawa from Digimon Adventure tri. Reunion was pulled together in 2018. Every piece of this costume was purchased on Amazon (except for the wig, which is Arda's Grace in Rose Brown), with minimal work done. I modified the sleeves of the sweatshirt and painted the designs on it, and made the star necklace out of craft foam.
Nana Osaki from NANA -- I bought most of this online, but the skirt came from Hot Topic. I made a freezer paper stencil and painted the Westwood graphics onto the t-shirt. The wig is an Arda Blue Steele in Cool Dark Brown (because straight black looks awful on me). Put together around 2014, and last worn December 2019, and now retired.
King from King of Fighters for a group with my international friends at Connichi 2012. The wig was re-used from my Yui costume, the yellow cummerbund was borrowed from a friend, and everything else came from my closet.
Yuki Nagato from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for KumoriCon 2012. These costumes were a collaborative effort, where I helped with final assembly of pieces. The wig came from eBay, and the sweater was thrifted. I only had to cut it open up the center to get the perfect cardigan.
Misty from Pokemon for SakuraCon 2010's skit 'How 2BA Pokemon Master'
Shirt, shorts, and suspenders were purchased from the thrift store and altered. Wig was upcycled from a second-hand wig from a friend. The shoes took the most work, and were done by covering a pair of short Ugg Knock-Offs.
Aya Brea from Parasite Eve for SakuraCon 2009. A Last-Minute Week-of-Con costume, inspired by the wig (which was originally ordered for a different project). I spent one day buying a dress from the thrift store, adding the slit in the side, and meticulously picking all the beading off the bodice. The prop gun was borrowed from a friend, and the shoes came from my closet.
Light Yagami from Death Note -- Assembled in 2008 for Anime Central skit "The Game of Life". the shirt, pants and watch all came from the thrift store (the watch was broken and I dis-assembled and painted it). The tie was re-purposed from my friend's old choir uniform, and the shoes were from my closet. The wig was a salvage job from a failed attempt at my Haku wig earlier that year.
Rukia Kuchiki from BLEACH for Anime Central 2008. Rynn made the skirts and bows for both of us, and all I did with shorten the sleeves on the shirt, which I bought from the thrift store. The wig was an 'off-black' New Look brand Monica, right out of the bag.
Misa Amane from Death Note : Put together in February 2008, This costume was made entirely of pieces found and bought at the thrift store, inlcuding the jewelry, in ONE TRIP. Minus the jacket, which I already owned. The wig was purchased from a local costume shop and styled by me.
